Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan arrived today on an official visit in Albania, the Turkish media reported, as quoted by BTA.
Erdogan was welcomed with an official ceremony by Albanian President Bayram Begai. The two leaders then held a bilateral meeting, Anadolu Agency reports.
After the talks with Begai, the Turkish president also met with Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama. It is expected that after the meeting the two will give a joint press conference.
Later today, Erdoğan will attend the opening ceremony of the Grand Mosque “Namazgyah“ in Tirana, the Albanian capital.
On the occasion of the Turkish President's visit to Tirana, the streets along the route from the airport were decorated with Turkish and Albanian flags. Flags were also placed around the “Namazgyah“ mosque.
According to information from the Anatolian Agency, this is the largest mosque in the Balkans, built with the help of Turkey.
