A terrorist attack was carried out today against the complex of the national aerospace company of Turkey "TUSAS" (TUSAS) in a suburb of Ankara, announced the Minister of the Interior Ali Yerlikaya in his profile on the social network Ex, writes BTA.

The attack took place in the northwestern suburb of Kahramankazan.

There are several dead and wounded, pointed out Yerlikaya, who condemned the attack.

For now, the exact number of those killed and wounded is not known.

According to Turkish private television CNN-Turk, the terrorists detonated a car bomb at the entrance of the enterprise and opened fire with firearms.

Military helicopters hover over the area.

Television TGRT reported a second explosion.

Hostages were reported taken, as well as fighting between the attackers and security forces.

There is still no official confirmation of the presence of hostages.

Initially, an explosion was heard at the entrance to the complex, located in the suburb of Kahramankazan, and later shots were fired.

According to NTV television, the attackers who broke into the factory were armed with assault rifles and pistols. They may be carrying explosives and ammunition.

Several television stations are showing footage from video cameras showing the faces of the attackers. It is believed that at least two people - a man and a woman dressed in black clothes - were involved in the attack.

NTV indicates that the employees of the corporation “Tusash“ have taken refuge in special rooms in accordance with issued instructions and are waiting for special units to enter the plant.

TV noted that the attack took place in "the heart of the defense industry" of Turkey. TUSAŞ is one of the most important Turkish companies in the field of defense industry and aviation. It also produces the KAAN aircraft, which is the first national combat aircraft.

Meanwhile, Turkey's Supreme Radio and Television Council imposed restrictions on media coverage of the terrorist attack.

The Chief Prosecutor's Office of the Turkish capital has ordered an investigation into a terrorist attack, announced the Minister of Justice Yilmaz Tunc.

So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack. A number of attacks in Turkey have been carried out by the terrorist groups “Islamic State” (Daesh), PKK (Kurdish Workers Party) and left groups.

The Defense Industry Exhibition is currently being held in Istanbul. The exhibition was opened on October 22 and will continue until October 26.
