The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has become the target of a serious cyber attack, carried out during the second day of the BRICS summit, Reuters reported, citing a statement by the spokeswoman of the foreign ministry, Maria Zakharova, BTA reports.

"A large-scale cyberattack from abroad began this morning against the infrastructure of the official website, the portal of the Russian Foreign Ministry," Zakharova said, adding that the department regularly faces this type of attack, but today's cyberattack was "unprecedented in scale" ;.
The BRICS summit, which aims to demonstrate Moscow's global role amid Western sanctions, is taking place in the city of Kazan, the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan, Reuters notes.
