Ukraine's top military is discussing the formation of a cyber defense force within the structure of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ukrinform reported, citing a statement by the General Staff of the Armed Forces in " ;Facebook", BTA reported.
The possibility of creating cyber forces as a separate branch of troops was discussed by representatives of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, members of the Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence in the Verkhovna Rada, as well as experts.
The working meeting was chaired by Lieutenant General Anatoly Barilevich, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Participants reviewed the main elements of the concept, taking into account the experience of creating and operating cyber defense forces in leading countries around the world.
In addition, they analyzed the experience of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other defense force components in cyberspace during the defense against the invasion of Russia. They defined the main objectives and functions of the cyber defense force, based on the allocation of security and defense responsibilities related to actions in cyberspace.
The General Staff emphasized that the creation of cyber forces as a separate branch of the armed forces will significantly strengthen the capabilities of the Ukrainian army and ensure effective planning and execution of the entire range of tasks in cyberspace. It, along with land, sea, air and space, is recognized as a separate operational area.
"Ukrinform" reminds that Ukraine is the first country to create a new kind of troops - forces for unmanned systems.
