Turkey's goal of reducing harmful emissions into the atmosphere to zero by 2053 can only be achieved through nuclear energy. This was said by the Minister of Energy, Alparslan Bayraktar, as quoted by "Millet".

He recalled that in the next 20 years, Turkey plans to build three nuclear power plants with four reactors each.

We need to build 12 reactors: in Akkuyu, Sinop and in Thrace. Turkey has no chance to reduce its harmful emissions in the atmosphere to zero by 2053 without nuclear energy, Minister Bayraktar pointed out to Milliet.

He added that in fact there are not many companies in the world that build nuclear power plants and, accordingly, countries with which to negotiate on the matter.

According to him, these countries include Russia, China, and South Korea.

Our goal is to build nuclear power plants as cheaply as possible and with the best location, Bayraktar pointed out.

The first nuclear power plant “Akkuyu“ currently being built by the Russian company "Rosatom" in Mersin South Turkey. The first reactor is planned to be commissioned in 2025.
