Kiev launched an overnight attack with drones in Russia's border Bryansk region, with air defense forces intercepting 26 aircraft, regional governor Alexander Bogomaz said, quoted by Reuters and BTA.
„Air defense forces continue to protect our area”, Bogomaz said on the social network “Telegram”.
„ The air defense forces of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation detect and destroy air targets,” he added, quoted by TASS.
The governor called on the population to observe the necessary security measures.
Meanwhile, the mayor of Moscow, Sergei Sobyanin, announced that the air defense intercepted two drones headed for the Russian capital, Reuters reported.
„According to preliminary information, there is no damage or casualties at the place where the debris fell,” Sobyanin wrote on his “Telegram” profile.
Reuters reports that it has not been able to independently verify the data provided.
There is currently no comment from the Ukrainian side. Kiev often says its drone strikes on Russian territory target infrastructure key to the Kremlin's military goals and are in response to ongoing Russian strikes on Ukraine.
