The United States has taken an important decision regarding its support for Ukraine's air defense, said German Foreign Minister Analena Berbock, who emphasized that this was not a change in the West's strategy, Reuters reported.
The administration of US President Joe Biden has allowed Ukraine to use American-made weapons to strike deep into Russian territory, two US government officials quoted by Reuters said yesterday.
„The decision on the American side, while I want to emphasize that this is not a rethinking, but a strengthening of what has already been delivered by other partners, is very important at this moment,” Berbock said before the meeting of foreign ministers in EU member states.
France has also signaled that it may allow Kiev to carry out strikes with French weapons. Paris has already delivered long-range missiles to Ukraine, Reuters recalls.
„We have openly stated that this is an option we would consider if it would allow strikes to be carried out against targets from where Russia is currently attacking Ukrainian territory. So nothing new on the other side,”, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barro told journalists before the meeting of EU ministers in Brussels.
