The Russian Foreign Ministry said today that Ukraine had repeatedly dropped white phosphorus munitions from drones in September, Reuters reported.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that law enforcement agencies have evidence that Ukraine had used such munitions.
Ukraine has not yet commented on Zakharova's statement.
Russia will respond to the new package of sanctions by the European Union against Moscow, Zakharova also said, explaining that according to Russian authorities, the new sanctions pose a risk to global energy security.
The European Union introduced the 15th package of sanctions against Russia on Monday, which includes stricter measures against more ships from the so-called Russia's shadow fleet.
Maria Zakharova also said that Russia would protect its citizens and peacekeepers in the Moldovan region of Transnistria.
Any attack against them would be viewed by Moscow as an attack on Russia itself, she warned.
