Macron accuses Musk of supporting a "new reactionary international" - 1

French President Emmanuel Macron has accused the owner of the social network “Ex“ – billionaire Elon Musk, without mentioning him by name, of supporting a “new reactionary international“ and interfering in elections, including in Germany, Agence France-Presse reported, BTA reported.

“If someone had told us ten years ago that the owner of one of the largest social networks in the world would support a new reactionary international and directly interfere in elections, including in Germany? Who could have imagined it? Macron said in an address to French ambassadors, amid the US billionaire's continued support for Germany's far-right Alternative for Germany party.

Elon Musk has limited influence on the German people, a government spokesman in Berlin said, downplaying the US billionaire's criticism of Chancellor Olaf Scholz and his advocacy of the far-right Alternative for Germany party, Reuters reported.

"Normal, sensitive and moderate people constitute a significant majority in this country," the government spokesman said at a regular news conference in the German capital.

"We are behaving as if Musk's statements on "Twitter" can influence a country of 84 million people through false claims, half-truths or the expression of personal opinions. That is simply not the case," the federal government spokesman added, using the platform's old name, which was changed to "Ex" by its new owner Elon Musk.
