Since the start of the Ukrainian surprise operation in the Kursk region, the Russian army has lost more than 38 thousand soldiers, UNIAN reported.
This was announced by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky after a meeting of the headquarters. He recalled that yesterday it was exactly five months since the start of Kiev's operation in the Kursk region. Now Ukrainian fighters are maintaining a buffer zone there, actively destroying the military potential of the aggressor country.
“During the Kursk operation, the enemy has already lost more than 38 thousand of its soldiers - only in this direction of the front, of which about 15 thousand - irretrievably”, Zelensky said.
The Ukrainian president noted that the occupiers have deployed their own strong units on the territory of the region, and have also deployed soldiers from the DPRK there. Thanks to the operation, they cannot direct these forces against Ukrainian territory. “Thanks to all our soldiers who are bringing the war home to Russia and giving more security and more strength to Ukraine“, Zelensky added.
The Russian army has thwarted an attempt by Ukrainian units to break through into the Kursk region, western Russia, the Defense Ministry in Moscow said yesterday, quoted by Reuters. The main Ukrainian forces were concentrated in the area of the village of Berdyn, and in the fighting they suffered losses in manpower and tanks, the Russian military ministry statement also said.
Reuters notes that it cannot independently confirm the information announced by Moscow about the situation on the battlefield. Ukraine has not yet provided details of its operations in the Kursk region.
