Trump issues over 100 executive orders on first day in office - 1

US President Donald Trump plans to sign more than a hundred executive orders in the first days of his new term to push through campaign-promised policies related to border security, deportations and other priorities, the Associated Press reported, quoted by BTA.

Trump made the announcement to Republican senators during a private meeting in Congress. Many of the orders are expected to be signed on the day he takes office on January 20. Trump's top adviser, Stephen Miller, has outlined the measures that will be taken first to senators.

The president-elect's allies are preparing a raft of executive orders that Trump could sign soon on a wide range of issues - from tightening control of the US-Mexico border, to those related to energy and federal labor laws, to gender-related education policies and vaccine regulations. The AP notes that these are promises made during his election campaign.

Senators, briefed by Trump and his team, expect the new administration to repeal many of the Biden administration's executive orders, while also introducing its own proposals.

US President Joe Biden will deliver a farewell address to the nation on Wednesday from the Oval Office – five days before the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump, the Associated Press reported, quoted by BTA.

The president's address, scheduled for 8 p.m. (Washington time, 3 a.m. Thursday Bulgarian time), is considered his last significant opportunity to address Americans and the world before he leaves the White House at noon on Jan. 20. On Monday, he will deliver a speech at the State Department that will focus on his foreign policy legacy.

White House spokeswoman Karin Jean-Pierre told reporters that Biden will reflect on “more than 50 years as a public servant“.

“He has some thoughts about the future, not only of the country but also how it moves forward as a leader, focusing on global events, important global issues. "He will definitely talk about it," she said.
