Blinken: The main condition in the peace agreement with Moscow are guarantees that the Russians will not attack again - 1

Resigning US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken pointed to Ukraine's desire to end the conflict with Russia as a condition for concluding a good deal. He said this at a briefing at the State Department.

“I think the future administration is capable, if Ukraine wants it and makes such a choice, to help it negotiate a good deal“, he said.

According to Blinken, Russia could “take a breather and attack again“. Therefore, the Secretary of State said, the main condition of the agreement should be the certainty that this will not happen.

Blinken will be replaced as US Secretary of State by Marco Rubio, who previously stated that ending the Ukrainian conflict should be one of the priorities of US policy. He stressed that achieving peace would be a complex process, requiring "bold diplomacy" and a real balance of interests between the two sides.

Earlier in January, Russian President Vladimir Peskov's press secretary said that there were no prerequisites for resuming negotiations on Ukraine, although he called security guarantees for Moscow an integral part of possible negotiations on a Ukrainian agreement.

At the same time, US President-elect Donald Trump expressed hope that talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Ukraine could take place in less than six months. In addition, he promised that he would be able to achieve a negotiated settlement of the Ukrainian conflict.

He has repeatedly stated that he will be able to resolve the conflict in Ukraine in one day.

In Russia, they believe that this is too complex a problem for such a simple solution. At the same time, Bloomberg claims that Trump is not interested in the fate of Ukraine and does not consider the conflict to be strategically important for the interests of the United States.

Meanwhile, the leader of the British party "Heritage" David Curtin called on the authorities to improve relations with Russia, it became clear from his publication in X.

"Starmer is acting in the interests of the globalists and against the interests of the British people. Britain should strive to restore good relations with Russia," the politician said.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer arrived on a visit to Ukraine, during which an agreement on a hundred-year partnership between the countries was signed. It contains a clause on the countries' plans to deepen military cooperation in the Black, Azov and Baltic Seas to "strengthen security".

Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Friday that Moscow strongly condemned Britain and Ukraine's plans to cooperate in the Sea of Azov.

The Russian embassy in London noted that the new statements by the British authorities show provocative plans by Britain that threaten new rounds of escalation.
