China has banned the import of small ruminants from a number of African, Asian and European countries due to outbreaks of diseases such as measles and foot-and-mouth disease, reported "Reuters", quoted by News.bg.
According to information from the General Administration of Customs, the measures are based on data published by the World Health Organization on the presence of outbreaks in the affected regions.
The new ban by Beijing, which is the world's largest meat importer, affects the following countries: Bulgaria, Ghana, Somalia, Qatar, Congo (DRC), Nigeria, Tanzania, Egypt, East Timor and Eritrea.
In addition, the import of small ruminants and related products from Palestine, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Nepal and Bangladesh has been suspended due to the spread of measles in sheep and goats.
Imports of ungulates and related products from Germany have also been blocked due to an outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease.
