„Hamas“ accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his government of „playing dirty games“ to sabotage the peace deal, quoted by News.bg.
„We will not give him any excuse, but we will try with the mediators to avoid any obstacles“, he told „Al Jazeera“ Bassem Naim, a senior Palestinian official.
Naim stressed that the next round of talks, which is due to begin on the 16th day of the ceasefire, is expected to be “very difficult“.
According to Naim, today is “the most important day in the modern history of the conflict“ because “the resistance“ has forced Israel to allow Palestinians to return to their homes in the northern Gaza Strip. “I think this is a very symbolic day“, he noted.
This month, Israel and “Hamas“ reached a three-stage ceasefire agreement that could end the 15-month war in Gaza.
The ceasefire took effect on January 19, when “Hamas“ released three Israeli hostages and Israel released Palestinian prisoners and detainees.
The agreement provides for a six-week initial ceasefire phase, a phased withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip, and an exchange of hostages and prisoners between the two sides.
