The Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines should be dismantled as a threat to Eastern European countries, Polish President Andrzej Duda said in an interview with the BBC.
“I believe that the Nord Stream pipelines. should be dismantled“, he said. “These pipelines pose a serious threat to Ukraine, Poland and Slovakia, as well as other Central European countries.“
According to Duda, we are not only talking about the threat of “Russia's energy dominance over Europe“, but also about the supposedly existing “military threat“. The president expressed hope that other European leaders would "learn their lesson" and decide "never to restore gas transit" from Russia across the Baltic Sea.
During the interview, he added that he "calmly awaits" the steps of the new US President Donald Trump aimed at ending the conflict in Ukraine.
