Georgia is ready to take on the role of a mediator to strengthen peace and stability in the South Caucasus, Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Bochorishvili said at a joint press conference with her Armenian counterpart Ararat Mirzoyan in Yerevan. Her words were quoted by the Armenian news agency ARMENPRESS, BTA reports.
„Georgia really wants to be a mediator in order to strengthen peace and stability in the region. "We will express our readiness to facilitate the peace process between our neighboring countries," Bochorishvili said, referring to Armenia and Azerbaijan.
The Georgian minister stressed the importance of the upcoming session of the intergovernmental economic commission between Armenia and Georgia, describing it as "extremely important."
"We have common interests and both countries want to continue developing our relations in the fields of economy, transport, ecology, tourism and others," she added.
