Two Russian Tu-95 strategic bombers carried out a routine flight over the Sea of Okhotsk and Japan, TASS reported, citing the Ministry of Defense in Moscow, BTA reports.
Their flight, which lasted more than eight hours, was at times monitored by fighter jets of other countries that accompanied them. The bomber formation itself also included Russian escorting Su-35 fighters.
Planes from the strategic bomber aviation, which is part of Russia's nuclear deterrent, have also flown over the Black and Baltic Seas, as well as the Arctic, in recent months, Reuters notes.
