US President Donald Trump still has no final plan to end the war. This was stated by political scientist Igor Reiterovich, FREEDOM reported.
„Trump still does not have a final plan that he is ready to implement and present to the public. The work is going on quite actively, but how long it will take is an open question“, he said.
The White House has already stated that negotiations are underway with Moscow and Kiev to hold the first round of negotiations under the Donald Trump administration, but there is nothing concrete yet – neither in terms of date and place, nor in terms of a vision of what the end of the war should look like.
Trump stated that both sides are losing a huge number of people, mostly young men, and this bloodshed must stop. However, US President Trump does not say how. Putin, for his part, would like to meet Trump personally and without the participation of the EU and Ukraine in the negotiations, Reuterovich believes.
According to him, without the participation of the European Union, it will not be possible to achieve peace in Ukraine. When Trump spoke about ending the Russian-Ukrainian war, he said publicly several times that the EU should take an active role in helping Ukraine recover from the war. And if we are talking about providing security guarantees, then first of all they should be taken on by the European countries that are members of NATO.
“Europeans, unlike Trump, objectively understand better what is happening in Ukraine. Many of the leaders of European countries have been here and understand perfectly what the Russian Federation is. Therefore, there will be no ignoring from the EU. European countries will definitely have to attend the discussions“, said the political scientist.
Analysts note that Republicans have a majority in Congress and the Senate. This could help Trump act more independently, which would have a positive impact on the speed of decision-making in the negotiations. However, Putin shows no signs of being ready to make concessions - on the contrary, he continues to demand Ukraine's surrender to stop the war.
