Turkish security forces have "neutralized" 13 terrorists from the Syrian Kurdish People's Protection Forces (YPG) in northern Syria, the Turkish Defense Ministry announced today, quoted by the Anadolu Agency.
Ankara considers the People's Protection Forces to be the Syrian branch of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), which is designated a terrorist organization by Turkey, the United States and the EU.
„We will continue our fight against terrorism with the same determination as before, without compromise, the ministry wrote on its profile in Ex.
The term „neutralization“ is used by Turkish authorities to indicate that terrorists have been killed, captured or surrendered, Anadolu Agency notes.
In northern Syria, Turkey has been conducting a series of anti-terror operations since 2016, including “Euphrates Shield“ (2016), “Olive Branch“ (2018) and “Peace Spring“ (2019), to prevent the creation of a terrorist corridor and ensure the peaceful settlement of local residents.
During its 40-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK is responsible for the deaths of more than 40,000 people.
