The strongest in the series of earthquakes so far shook the Cyclades Islands last night, Greek media reported.
Initially, its magnitude was announced as 5.3 on the Richter scale, but in today's information from ANA-MPA the indicator was revised to 5.2 – the same as the previous record in the series of tremors between the islands of Santorini and Amorgos, recorded last Wednesday.
According to data from the Greek Institute of Geodynamics, the earthquake was registered at 10:16 p.m. on Monday with an epicenter in the sea 14 km south-southwest of Arkesini on Amorgos.
After the strong tremor in the area overnight until this morning, 7 more earthquakes between the fourth and fifth magnitudes occurred.
From January 26 to February 8, there were over 12,800 earthquakes in the area.
