Kiev is ready to exchange territories with Russia. This was stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in an interview with the British "Guardian". Since last year, Ukraine has controlled parts of the Russian Kursk region. Now it is ready to exchange them. "All our territories are important, there are no priorities", Zelensky stressed.
The US wants negotiations to end the war
Washington wants to start negotiations to end hostilities, while Ukraine insists on guarantees for its security. Kiev fears that any agreement that does not include serious commitments such as NATO membership or the deployment of peacekeeping forces will give the Kremlin time to regroup and soon launch a new attack. At the same time, Zelensky is ready to discuss Trump's requested access to the country's natural resources. The US president has insisted that Washington get one in return for its support. This week he even went so far as to say that Ukraine "could be Russian" one day.
In the next few days, representatives of the new US administration will hold high-level talks on Ukraine. Treasury Secretary Scott Besant will visit Kiev, where he will meet with the Ukrainian president. New Defense Secretary Pete Hegsett will participate in a meeting of Ukraine's partners in Brussels on Wednesday, where military aid to the country will be discussed. Hegsett is expected to give a clear signal about how Washington will approach the issue of supporting Ukraine from now on.
Trump sends a large delegation to the Munich Conference
The Munich Security Conference also begins this week, in which US Vice President J.D. Vance, who has previously expressed skepticism about support for Kiev, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio will participate. Before the meeting, the foreign ministers of several countries - Germany, France, Poland, Spain, Italy, Great Britain and Ukraine - are gathering in Paris for consultations. Relations between European countries and the United States have been strained due to Trump's criticism of NATO and his claims to Greenland.
The United States is expected to present plans to end the war during the conference. During the election campaign behind the Ocean, Donald Trump promised that he would end the conflict, which has been going on for almost 3 years, "within 24 hours". Vance is also scheduled to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as part of the event.
