Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó welcomed yesterday's phone call between the presidents of the United States and Russia, Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin, the Hungarian news agency MTI reported.
Szijjártó assessed the call as a "big step" towards the hope of ending the war in Ukraine.
"For three years we have been living in the shadow of the war and we hope that it will end," he wrote in a post on the social network "Facebook".
"With the phone call between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin, we have come closer to making this hope a reality," he pointed out.
Szijjártó added that the negotiations will be successful and after three years (of war) peace will be able to return to Central Europe.
