Pope Francis remains in critical condition as he is treated for bilateral pneumonia, but he spent the night peacefully and rested, the Vatican said today, quoted by Reuters.
The 88-year-old Francis was admitted to Rome's Gemelli hospital 13 days ago - his longest stay in a hospital since he became pope 12 years ago.
"The Pope spent the night peacefully and rested", the Vatican said in a brief statement, without giving further details.
Yesterday, the Vatican said Francis remained in critical condition for the fourth consecutive day, but his condition was stable and he had not had any further respiratory crises. The Pope's hemodynamic indicators were also "stable".
However, doctors' forecasts for his recovery remain "cautious".
