Moscow is working on the return of 16 children to Russia from Ukraine and plans to reunite 10 more with their relatives in Ukraine. This was stated by the Commissioner for Children's Rights of the Russian Federation Maria Lvova-Belova, quoted by "Reuters", reports News.bg.
„We have a clear presidential mandate to work only with full legal representatives – relatives or parents who have legal capacity and can take care of their children“, she explained.
According to her, through these channels, 95 children have so far been reunited with their families in Ukraine, and 17 have been returned to Russia.
Moscow and Kiev have already held several exchanges of children with the aim of reuniting with their families since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
According to the Ministry of Reintegration of Ukraine, Kiev has so far returned 1,277 children, including through non-governmental organizations and individual initiatives.
