The United States and Ukraine have agreed on the mineral resources deal and negotiations on this issue have been completed. This was announced on Thursday by US Treasury Secretary Scott Besant.

„The deal is ready. President Zelensky is coming to sign it, so there are no more negotiations on this issue. I am sure that President Zelensky and President Trump will discuss a wide range of topics, but as far as the deal is concerned, it is ready. The text is already on paper, the Ukrainian government has approved it, and now the document is just waiting to be signed,“ Besent said on Fox Business.

“This is a deal for strategic minerals, oil and gas, as well as infrastructure assets“, the minister specified. According to him, this agreement will benefit both Washington and Kiev.

The American leader earlier confirmed that he intends to sign an agreement with Volodymyr Zelensky on February 28 for the extraction of rare earth elements and other minerals in Ukraine.

Washington and Kiev are working on signing an agreement on Ukrainian mineral resources, in which Trump expressed interest in early February. Previously, Zelensky refused to sign the document, insisting on including a clause on security guarantees for Ukraine. At the same time, Trump and Zelensky have serious disagreements over the funds spent by Washington to help Kiev and Ukraine's obligations to repay them.

As reported by the publication "Ukrainska Pravda", the document, which was approved by the Ukrainian government, talks about plans to create an investment fund, but does not specify the details related to its activities. The discussion focuses, in particular, on how the fund will be managed in practice, what powers the US representatives will have and the structure of its ownership.
