Europe must take a "full part" in resolving the Ukrainian conflict, said British Prime Minister Keir Starmer in an interview with Fox News.

According to his position, a "strong deal" should be reached to resolve the conflict. "I believe that European countries, including Britain, must take a full part in this", said the British Prime Minister, noting that London is ready to take a "leading role". According to him, sending ground troops as a peacekeeping contingent, as well as possible air and naval support, could be discussed.

Starmer said he raised the issue with US President Donald Trump at the White House, and the discussion was about how “collectively, including the United States, to provide the necessary security“.

Earlier, Trump said that the US administration was ready to support European countries in the event of the deployment of their peacekeepers on the territory of Ukraine. “This is an easy question, the whole difficulty is in resolving the conflict,” he said.

Earlier, The Wall Street Journal, citing its sources, reported that Starmer may present Trump with a draft plan for the deployment of British and French peacekeepers in Ukraine. The publication notes that London and Paris would like to receive fire support from Washington if their peacekeepers are in danger. As part of the plan, Britain and France want to include ground forces, as well as air forces and navies.

Meanwhile, Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu said in an interview with state television that his country would not send peacekeeping forces to Ukraine, and that this would be announced by acting President Ilie Bolojan at the upcoming EU summit on March 6.

“No“, he said. “I do not agree with the deployment of forces and I have spoken about it with the acting president and this is a decision that he will convey to the European Council.

“Romania will not send military forces to the territory of Ukraine”, Ciolacu stressed. “First, let there be peace. Romania must stabilize the situation in Romania, we have the longest border with Ukraine, we have the Black Sea. It is easiest for Romania to strengthen the eastern flank on Romanian territory, rather than by moving troops into the conflict zone.
