All "Eurostar" trains traveling to and from Paris were suspended today due to the discovery of an unexploded World War II bomb near the tracks at the "Gare du Nord" station, Agence France-Presse reported, BTA reports.
According to the railway operator, the London-Paris, Paris-London, Brussels-Paris and Paris-Brussels lines are affected. However, trains on the Brussels-Marne La Vallée, London-Brussels and London-Amsterdam routes are running as scheduled, Eurostar said.
French police have blocked traffic to and from the station after the bomb was discovered during overnight repairs on the tracks leading to one of the terminals, the BBC added.
"Garre du Nord" is a key transport hub in Europe, connecting Paris with international destinations, northern France and the city's main airport, serving thousands of passengers daily.
Unexploded bombs from the First and Second World Wars are common in France, but rarely in such busy places, the Associated Press noted.
