Ukraine prepares algorithms for monitoring potential ceasefire - 1

Immediately after the meeting in Saudi Arabia, Ukraine began work on developing algorithms to monitor potential ceasefires and the conditions for future peace talks, Foreign Minister Andriy Szybiga announced today, quoted by Ukrinform, BTA reports.

At a joint press conference with Austrian Foreign Minister Beate Meinl-Reisinger in Kiev, Szybiga stressed that Ukraine is approaching these issues responsibly. He specified that immediately after returning from Jeddah, the negotiating team reported to President Volodymyr Zelensky on the results of the meeting with US representatives and presented proposals for the next steps.

“We have already started to form a national team that will develop appropriate algorithms for proper monitoring of a possible ceasefire“, said Sibiga.

He pointed out that the process is extremely complex, given the fact that the front line is over 1,300 km long and the fighting continues. Sibiga also recalled the negative experience with the Minsk agreements, where a ceasefire was declared 25 times without lasting success.

“In order to avoid possible provocations from the Russian side, we must remain vigilant. Therefore, all efforts are now aimed at ensuring Ukraine's readiness - with experienced teams and clearly defined conditions for a future agreement or action plan that would guarantee a just and lasting peace. "We are also actively working on the parameters of a security package for Ukraine," Sibiga emphasized.
