NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said that after the end of the war in Ukraine, relations with Russia must gradually be normalized, writes the BBC, reports BTA.
"It would be normal after the war to restore relations with Russia step by step, both for Europe and the United States", Rutte said in an interview with Bloomberg TV."
"But we are not ready yet, we need to continue to put pressure on Russia to ensure that it takes negotiations seriously", he added."
Earlier on March 13, Rutte met with US President Donald Trump at the White House, where they discussed the possibility of a ceasefire in Ukraine brokered by Washington."
"We need to continue to put pressure on Russia to ensure that it is ready to engage seriously in negotiations both with the US administration and with Ukraine", Rutte said."
