Israeli airstrikes in Syria send a clear message to Turkey, an official Israeli representative told the Jerusalem Post, BTA reports.
“Do not establish a military base in Syria and do not interfere with Israeli activity in the skies over the country“, the source cited by the publication stressed.
The attacks were directed against the outskirts of Hama, as well as against a research center in the Damascus suburb of Barzeh, the Israeli armed forces announced.
Israel justifies its strikes in Syria with the need to neutralize weapons depots and logistical routes used by the Palestinian group Hamas and the Lebanese Hezbollah.
Turkey recently criticized Israel for significantly expanding its military operation in Gaza, describing it as an illegal move that undermines the pursuit of peace. The Turkish Foreign Ministry also condemned Israeli plans to expand settlements in the occupied West Bank, accusing Tel Aviv of “gross disregard for international law“.
Ankara called on the international community to protect holy sites, prevent provocations and stop Israel's attempts to expand its territory through occupation, the Jerusalem Post recalls.
