A fire has broken out at a 5-star hotel in the Turkish Aegean resort of Marmaris in the Mugla district, Turkish state television TRT Haber reported, quoted by BTA.
Six people suffered from smoke inhalation. They have been hospitalized. Many fire brigade teams have been dispatched to the scene of the incident, and they managed to control the flames in a short time.
A total of 680 people, guests of the hotel for the ongoing Ramadan Bayram holiday in Turkey, have been evacuated and accommodated in other hotels. The cause of the fire, which is believed to have started in the boiler room, is under investigation.
This is the latest hotel fire in Turkey in recent memory, after two people died in a fire at a hotel in the Uludag ski resort near the Turkish city of Bursa last month. On January 21, nearly 80 people lost their lives in similar circumstances at a hotel in the Kartalkaya ski resort in the northwestern Turkish province of Bolu.
