French President Emmanuel Macron discussed with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer the measures in response to Washington's new tariffs, as well as the situation in Ukraine.
„Against the backdrop of the blow to the global economy caused by US tariffs, we confirmed our readiness to closely coordinate our positions during negotiations with US President Donald Trump“, Macron wrote on his X page after a conversation with the head of the British government.
„A trade war is not in the interests of either side.“
According to him, the issue of supporting Ukraine was also discussed.
"We continue to think about long-term assistance to the Ukrainians. First of all, we intend to provide assistance to the Ukrainian army, which will remain on the first line of defense.
The French president said that in his conversation with Starmer they discussed “the possible formation of a deterrent contingent located far from the line of contact“.
