Ukraine continues to carry out daily strikes on Russian energy infrastructure, despite a 30-day moratorium on the temporary cessation of such strikes, agreed with the mediation of the United States, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said today, Reuters reported, BTA reported.
The two sides accused each other of violating this agreement. Reuters could not confirm reports from the front.
On March 18, Russia and Ukraine agreed on a 30-day temporary cessation of strikes on energy facilities, agreed with the mediation of the United States. US President Donald Trump had hoped for a comprehensive temporary ceasefire on the way to a permanent ceasefire. However, Russian President Vladimir Putin has refused to approve a complete cessation of hostilities, Reuters recalls.
"Contrary to its own statements supporting the 30-day moratorium on strikes on energy facilities, the Kiev regime continues to cynically carry out daily strikes on Russia's energy infrastructure," Zakharova said, adding that Russia was complying with the ban.
Last week, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Russia had carried out a drone attack on a thermal power plant in the city of Kherson.
Zakharova also commented on the planned significant increase in defense spending by the US-led military alliance NATO, indicating that this was preparation for a possible conflict with Russia.
"The alliance still considers our country to be a long-term threat and will remain so even after the end of the Ukrainian conflict," Zakharova said.
