Switzerland is creating a special body to manage Swiss-US relations, „Reuters“ reported, News.bg reports.
The new structure will operate until the end of the year and will include representatives from all government departments. According to an official government statement, the goal is to strengthen contacts with the United States, with a focus on finding solutions on issues related to trade, economy and financial relations between the two countries.
The measure comes at a time of global tension due to the new trade tariffs imposed by US President Donald Trump. The tariffs, covering a number of countries, including countries from the European Union, come into effect today. The most severely affected are Chinese goods, which are already subject to a combined tariff of 104%.
Although the measures are intended to protect American industry, they have caused serious turmoil in global markets. Even some of President Trump's billionaire supporters - including entrepreneur Elon Musk - have spoken out against the tariffs, warning of their potential negative impact on the global economy.
