Russian authorities have launched an investigation into the alleged killing of eight Russian civilians by Ukrainian soldiers in the village of Guevo, located in Kursk region. The area was under Ukrainian control before being recaptured by the Russian army earlier this year, reports “Reuters“, reports News.bg.
The spokeswoman for the Russian Investigative Committee, Svetlana Petrenko, said in a Telegram message that the actions of the Ukrainian army led to the deaths of villagers during an evacuation in April 2025.
“The investigation established targeted shelling by the Ukrainian armed forces against civilians as they tried to leave the area, resulting in the deaths of six people,“ Petrenko said.
The investigation also covers two other civilian deaths since March 2025, as well as reports of alleged looting by Ukrainian military personnel in the village.
Since the start of the conflict in February 2022, Russian forces in Ukraine have also been accused of serious violations against the civilian population. However, Russian officials have repeatedly rejected these accusations as unfounded.
