Romania must build an Eastern European bloc that can withstand the coming waves, he said in an interview with the newspaper “Adeverul” Igor Novikov, who was an advisor to President Volodymyr Zelensky in 2019-2020, writes BTA.
In response to a question about how he sees the geopolitical future and the role of Romania, he commented that the country should build alliances with partners that surround it, such as Ukraine, Poland, Moldova.
“And I believe that from this position, Romania and its partners should cooperate with the European Union, with the United States, in one form or another with China”, adds Igor Novikov.
According to him, Romania is in danger because the Black Sea is one of the zones of great geopolitical instability at the moment, and players like Russia are clearly on the offensive.
“The main threat to Romania is exactly the same as for Ukraine. This is Russia. The first thing they will try to do is use propaganda, use paid malicious actors and so on. They will try to divide and destabilize society and they will try to steal your political sphere. You have to be very careful who you choose, what you emotionally engage with and you have to remember that Romania and the Romanian people are one country and one people and nothing, especially coming from Russia, should divide you because, you know, divide and rule. That’s what Putin does,” Igor Novikov believes.
The 42-year-old first met Volodymyr Zelensky seven years ago. During the two years he served as an advisor to the President of Ukraine, Igor Novikov was responsible for Ukrainian-American relations and communication. In the fall of 2020, he returned to business, resigning from his post in the presidential administration, but continuing to maintain excellent relations with President Zelensky. Igor Novikov has a master's degree in law from the London School of Economics and is a highly regarded entrepreneur and lecturer in Kiev, where he currently lives, the newspaper “Adeverul” writes about him.
