The US has imposed sanctions on China's Guangsha Zhoushan Energy Group Co Ltd and 30 tankers for storing and transporting Iranian oil, the State Department said.

„Today, the State Department imposed sanctions on a second Chinese terminal operator, Guangsha Zhoushan Energy Group Co Ltd, which has received at least eight shipments of Iranian oil in the past several years. The State Department is also imposing sanctions on three ship-handling companies for their involvement in transporting Iranian oil,” the statement said.

In addition, the U.S. Treasury Department is imposing sanctions on entities from the United Arab Emirates and India for shipping Iranian oil.

“Today’s actions advance President Trump’s policy of maximum pressure to cut off all pathways for the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran to develop a nuclear weapon and to counter the regime’s malign influence. These sanctions will restrict the revenue stream that the Iranian regime uses to fund its destabilizing activities and are part of President Trump’s commitment to zero exports of Iranian oil, particularly to China,“ the State Department added. According to US authorities, Iranian oil reaches other buyers in Asia via China.

Inclusion on the sanctions list means freezing assets in the US and prohibiting US citizens and companies from doing business with those mentioned in the State Department statement.
