China will impose tariffs of 125 percent on US goods from tomorrow, April 12, compared to the previously announced 84 percent. This was announced today by the Chinese Ministry of Finance, quoted by Reuters, BTA reported.
Beijing has increased tariffs on US imports, responding to US President Donald Trump's decision to raise tariffs on Chinese goods to 145 percent, increasing tensions in a trade war that threatens to disrupt global supply chains.
"The US imposition of unusually high tariffs on (imports from) China constitutes a serious violation of international trade rules" and constitutes a "unilateral practice of intimidation and coercion", the Chinese Ministry of Finance said in a statement, Agence France-Presse added.
