Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said he hopes US President Donald Trump and his administration will understand that Russian President Vladimir Putin is "mocking their goodwill", Reuters reported, BTA reported.
He said this before the start of a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Luxembourg today - a day after a Russian missile strike on the Ukrainian city of Sumy, which killed dozens of people.
"Ukraine unconditionally agreed to a ceasefire more than a month ago. The disgusting attacks on Krivoy Rog and Sumy are Russia's mocking response," said Sikorski.
"I hope President Trump and the Washington administration will see that the Russian leader is mocking their goodwill, and I hope the right decisions will be made," the Polish foreign minister stressed.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has called on US President Donald Trump to come to Ukraine and see the devastation caused there by Russia, Agence France-Presse reported. The Ukrainian leader made this call in an interview broadcast on the American television network “CBS“.
It was recorded before the Russian missile strike in Sumy, which killed 34 people and injured 117, Agence France-Presse notes.
Addressing Trump directly, Zelensky said: "We want you to come and see. You think you understand what is happening here. Very well, we respect your decision. But please, before you make any decision, before any form of negotiations, come and see the people, the civilians, the military, the hospitals, the churches, the children, the destruction or the killed. Come, see, and then we will move forward with a plan to end the war,” Zelensky said. “You will understand what Putin has done,” he added.
While Trump seems to be losing patience with Vladimir Putin, who has not accepted his offer of a ceasefire, Zelensky believes that Putin cannot be trusted.
