The Ukrainian elite refuses to fight at the front - this is the deepest moral rift in our society. This was stated to the Ukrainian publication “Glavkom“ by the military serviceman Igor Lutsenko, who is also a well-known civil activist in the country.

According to him, Ukraine has a fundamental problem - the richest and most influential people in the country do not go to fight at the front, and this is required of ordinary people. “None of our pop stars is fighting, no one from the “Forbes“ top 100 list either”, said Lutsenko. This also applies to politicians.

According to the military, President Zelensky should resort to radical steps, declaring to his entourage that “whoever does not go to the front will be put in prison, whoever does not go to the front will have their assets confiscated“.

And today the government in Kiev can and should make the conditions for serving in the army more attractive, he also pointed out. Military commanders must be held responsible for illegal, incorrect decisions. Currently, there is the principle that “the commander is always right“.

“The top of the state refuses to fight in principle – this is the deepest moral rift in society. Of course, broad segments of the population are hesitating: to fight or not to fight, or what to do. They look at the top and understand: either they have to run away or come up with something to avoid all this. Because when the top is not directly involved in the war, the war is waged by enthusiasts who do not have the resources,” Lutsenko said.

He also pointed out that unnecessary bureaucracy should be eliminated regarding mobilization in Ukraine.

Today, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted a law approving the presidential decree on extending martial law and general mobilization in Ukraine for another 90 days - from May 9 to August 7, 2025.
