There is no order from Russian President Vladimir Putin to extend the Easter truce in Ukraine, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said today, quoted by Reuters, BTA reports.

The truce expires at midnight today.

"No other orders have been given", Peskov told TASS, in response to a question about whether the truce would expire tonight or could be extended.

Putin announced yesterday, at a meeting with the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, Valery Gerasimov, an Easter truce from 6:00 p.m. Moscow time on April 19 to 12:00 a.m. on April 21 - a total of 30 hours.

The US State Department said today that it would welcome an extension of the Easter ceasefire in Ukraine, Reuters reported.
