"The Germans have an intimate relationship with weapons and the reasons for this close relationship remain unclear".
This strange statement was made by German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, The Telegraph reports.
"I don't know where such an intimate relationship with weapons comes from", said the head of the military department.
As the authors of the article note, Pistorius' strange statement is related to the issue of sending weapons from Germany to Ukraine. The minister's words come as a comment on the public debate about the delivery of Taurus long-range missiles to Kiev and the public discussion on this issue.
On April 14, future German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said that Taurus long-range missiles would be transferred to Ukraine only if this was agreed with European partners. At the same time, his partners in the ruling coalition from the Social Democratic Party of Germany are reportedly hesitant and will not agree to such a measure.
