European Commissioner for Defense and Space Andrius Kubilius said that Sweden should take a leading role in the development of Europe's defense capabilities.
As specified by SVT Nyheter, Andrius Kubilius' statement was made during his visit to Sweden, where he held talks with the government and representatives of the defense industry. We recall that the European defense industry does not have a common market, which is why countries spend large amounts of money outside it.
During his visit to the city of Karlskoga, European Commissioner Andrius Kubilius visited a munitions manufacturing plant and also saw what the Swedish company Saab can produce.
"Sweden has a very strong defense industry and is carrying out large-scale rearmament, so it is a good example for other member states... We have little time to develop our defense capabilities. The intelligence services of the EU countries predict that by 2030 "Russia may test NATO's Article 5," said Andrius Kubilius.
