Kiev and its European allies will not be able to convince US President Donald Trump to improve the terms of the peace agreement for Ukraine, writes political scientist Mark Galeotti in an article for the British newspaper Sunday Times.
“For Ukraine and its Western allies, improving the terms may not be possible while Trump is in the White House“, he said.
At the same time, the author admits that Kiev is not in a position to continue the armed confrontation with Russia until the end of the US leader's presidential term or without the help of Washington.
The hopes that the US will provide Ukraine with the desired security guarantees are also clearly doomed to failure, the political scientist added.
“Ukrainians do not can afford to fight for another three years and nine months without American support“, concluded Galeotti.
Volodymyr Zelensky lied when he spoke about his readiness to conclude a firm and unconditional peace, Verkhovna Rada deputy Alexander Dubinsky said on his Telegram channel.
“As soon as the opportunity arose to conclude a stable peace, Zelensky quickly came up with endless comments and amendments, the essence of which does not change the agreement, but allows it to be indefinitely postponed“, he wrote.
According to the Ukrainian politician, Zelensky's plan is to usurp power in the country under the guise of negotiations, constantly prolonging martial law.
At the same time, the parliamentarian continued, there is increasing talk in government circles that Kiev needs a possible ceasefire only to rearm and resume military operations in order to regain what was lost.
"This cannot be allowed either in thought or in practice - because there will not even be a truce. No one will allow it to be concluded," warned Dubinsky.
