Former military advisor to former German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Brigadier General of the Reserve Erich Wad believes that closing communication channels with Moscow and relying on the administration of former US President Joe Biden are strategic mistakes of the ruling coalition in Germany that collapsed on November 6, 2024.
"For me, there are two main strategic mistakes in the foreign policy of the Scholz government. The first mistake was that we relied only on the US Biden administration and essentially campaigned against Trump," Wade said during a panel discussion dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II.
"And secondly, we acted unilaterally and relied only on Zelensky's Ukraine, while the channels of communication with Moscow were practically closed. This is a strategic mistake," the politician said.
