US sanctions against Iran are aimed at undermining relations between developing countries, Tehran will resist Washington's economic pressure. This was stated by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic, Esmail Baghai.
“The official representative of the Iranian Foreign Ministry categorically condemned the new US sanctions against individuals and legal entities of Iran and a number of other countries under the pretext of their cooperation with Iran in various economic spheres“, the diplomat was quoted as saying in a message published on the Telegram channel of the Republic's Foreign Ministry. He noted that the latest US restrictive measures demonstrate Washington's desire “to undermine friendly and legitimate relations between developing countries through economic terrorism“.
The introduction of new sanctions against Iran, Baghaei stressed, shows “the contradictory approach of the US authorities, the lack of goodwill and seriousness in their pursuit of diplomacy“. He noted that the Iranian people will “resist the policy of intimidation and pressure, using all available means to continue the independent and dignified development of the country“.
On April 30, the US administration imposed restrictions on seven organizations based in Iran, the United Arab Emirates and Turkey, which are allegedly involved in the trade in Iranian oil and petrochemical products. Two ships were also subject to restrictions. As noted in a statement by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, US President Donald Trump intends to stop “illegal exports“ of oil and petrochemical products from Iran, including supplies to China.
