The Mercedes-AMG One superhybrid has become the fastest production car on the Nürburgring. Again! (VIDEO) - 1

The Mercedes-AMG One hypercar set a new Nürburgring record for road cars. DTM driver Maro Engel lapped the legendary track in 6:29.090, bettering his own performance by more than five seconds. The hybrid was configured in the same way as during last year's race - but the organizers were very lucky with the weather.

Mercedes-AMG ambassador and DTM driver Maro Engel improved his own Nordschleife record set behind the wheel of the Mercedes-AMG One in 2022. The German managed not only to improve the previous result by five seconds, but also to be the first in a road car to achieve a time under 6 minutes 30 seconds. According to him, they were very lucky with the weather: the Nürburgring is dry and the air warms up to 15 degrees Celsius.

In preparation for the race, the camber of the hypercar's wheels has been changed, with the maximum allowable values selected. The mechatronics are switched to the sportiest Race Plus mode, which provides many advantages on the track. With it, the car is pressed harder to the ground, the suspension tightens, and the active aerodynamics system begins to work at the limit of its capabilities. And, of course, only in Race Plus is the maximum output of the powertrain available.

The latter is based on a 1.6-liter V6 turbo engine, which is supplemented by four electric motors and a battery with a capacity of 8.4 kilowatt hours, operating at 800 volts. System power is 1,063 horsepower. Mercedes-AMG One accelerates from zero to hundred in 2.9 seconds, and a speed of up to 200 km/h is achieved by the superhybrid in exactly seven seconds. 300 km/h is reached in 15.6 seconds. At the same time, in terms of record achievement on the Nordschleife, this car is still behind the electric Lotus Evija X (6:24.047) and the Volkswagen ID. R (6:05.336), but both are prototypes and do not have access to public roads.
