Renault deprives its crossovers of the Mercedes engine - 1

French journalists have established that the 1.3-liter unit from the TCe line will gradually be excluded from the range of the Regia. The Captur has already gotten rid of the top version with 160 horsepower, and this unit has now disappeared from the catalogs of both Arkana and Austral.

In 2025, the French will say goodbye to the less productive options of this motor (130 and 140 forces). The unit, which is a joint development of Mercedes and Renault and is installed on both Mercedes and cars from the Renault and Dacia brands, will be replaced by the "turbo triple" 1.2 TCe from Dacia Bigster.

The 1.3 (H5HT) turbo engine was developed mainly by Renault specialists, but also with the help of Mercedes, and is also installed on the compact Mercedes with a transverse arrangement of the power unit (M282). Such an engine is still installed on some versions of the A-Class, B-Class, GLA and GLB.

But the French company has clearly made up its mind and is heading towards a small three-cylinder 1.2 Tce engine and hybrid systems. French journalists note that the 1.3-liter turbo four-cylinder engine has no obvious weaknesses, but hybrids are more economical, more environmentally friendly and more affordable.

For example, on the Austral crossover, the E-Tech 200 powertrain saves almost two liters of gasoline per 100 kilometers in a mixed cycle. The exception will be the family of compact vans and more specifically the Renault Kangoo, which will continue to be sold with this engine.
