Bentley has registered two new trademarks - "Mayon" and "Barnato", one of which will go to the future electric crossover, which will be smaller than the Bentayga
The name "Barnato" is apparently a reference to Wolf Barnato, a British financier and racer who won the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans three times in 1928-1930, driving a Bentley. He played an important role in supporting the company during economic difficulties and contributed a lot to the development of new models.
The meaning of "Mayon" is not so obvious, but it is most likely a reference to the Mayon volcano in the Philippines, which has a perfectly symmetrical shape. This choice is in line with Bentley's tradition of naming its crossovers after geographical landmarks: for example, the Bentayga got its name from the Roque Bentayga rock formation in the Canary Islands.
Bentley's new crossover, which will occupy a niche below the Bentayga, is planned to be introduced in 2026. It will receive a fully electric drive and, despite the conditional nickname "baby Bentayga", will be quite large - its length will reach about five meters.
In addition, in 2025 the company will release a tuned Bentayga with a V8 engine, the power of which will reach 600 horsepower. This will be a petrol version without a hybrid module, aimed at fans of classic internal combustion engines, which are actually the majority of the brand's fans.
Bentley, while preserving its heritage and expanding its range of electric vehicles, seeks to maintain its position in the premium segment by adapting to new environmental standards and market needs. For this reason, the new "baby Bentayga" will be electric only.
