Earlier, information appeared that due to financial difficulties, as well as the introduction of new tariffs in the United States, the company is considering the possibility of selling the brand to a third party. At the same time, Reuters reported that the head of Maserati Santo Ficcili denied these rumors in personal correspondence with the union.
The head of Maserati does not deny that the new tariffs, as well as difficulties in international relations, have caused serious problems for the company. At the same time, the brand is experiencing serious difficulties with the transition to electric propulsion. Despite everything, Stellantis does not intend to abandon its premium brands. Therefore, the American market remains a priority for Maserati.
Due to the unstable situation, Maserati abandoned the development of the promising electric supercar MC20. Last year, the Italian brand sold just 11,300 cars, recording a loss of 260 million euros.
In early April, a sharp drop in car production was recorded in Italy by the Stellantis concern. The situation has been seriously affected by the trade wars between the EU and the US.
